Golf Love Poem

I think that I shall never see
a hazard rougher than a tree;
A tree o'er which my ball must fly
if on the green it is to lie;
A tree which stands that green to guard,
and makes the shot extremely hard;
A tree whose leafy arms extend
to kill the six iron shot I send;
A tree that stands in silence there,
while angry golfers rave and swear.
Irons were made for warriors like me
who cannot ever miss a tree.
Heheheee... La la la La la..

Presenting The Typical Warrior Cawie

Chipping Tia Lagi

A chip shot is one typically played from within a few yards of the putting surface. Usually played with a 6, 7, 8 or 9 iron or pitching wedge with the ball played back in the player's stance. This particular blend of ball position and club position results in a shot that is in the air about 1/3 of the shot time and then rolls about 2/3 of the time before landing near the cup. Chip shots are often confused with a pitch shot which is played further from the green and meant to have a higher flight path with the ball landing closer to the pin with minimal roll.
Some of the typical issues amateurs have with chipping include:
1. Topping the ball - A shot in which the golfer very nearly swings over the ball, with impact between club and ball occurring near the crown of the golf ball.
2. Hitting thin - A shot in which the clubhead strikes the ball too high (near its midpoint or slightly lower), often resulting in a low, sometimes slicing shot that can travel a long distance.
3. Grounding - A shot in which the clubhead hits the ground to far behind the ball.
4. Blading - A shot where the ball sails completely over the green.
5. Shanking - A mis-hit that is so bad the golfer makes contact with the ball with a part of the club other than the clubface.
The basic cause of these typical issues golfers have can be found in the shot set up. Basically the groundwork necessary for a successful chip shot can be found in three positions:
1. Position the golf ball in the middle of your stance.
Keeping the ball in the middle of your stance will provide more consistent impact. Placing the ball too far forward in your stance will have you topping the ball, hitting the ball thin or pulling it to the left. Conversely, having the ball too far back will cause you to top the ball, shank it and push it to the right.
2. For right handed golfers, 75% of your weight should be on your left foot.
This makes sure that you are hitting down on the ball as opposed to hitting up. It is important to make sure that you keep your weight on your front foot during the back swing.
3. Grip down on the club to the end of the grip and point the grip end of the club to the middle of your left leg.
When you grip down to the end of the grip you will make certain to have more control during impact. To eliminating topping and thin shots, try moving the grip part of the club further across your left leg which provides the necessary downward angle.
Following these three key elements will definitely enhance your ability to make some great chip shots around the green.

How to Use Your Driver?

What is the ultimate dream of any golfer? To hit a golf ball straight down the fairway every time. Unfortunately, not everybody is born like Tiger Woods and so driving a ball straight is often a challenging task. The driver is the hardest club to control because it is longer and this results in plenty of hooks and slices off the tee. However, here are some tips to help you control your drive and hit a golf ball straight down the fairway a lot more often. The key is to put this guide into action through taking the time for consistent practice. Rome wasn't built in a day and so to get the most out of these tips you should do the drills as often as possible.
If you focus on accuracy, and hitting the ball with a clean collection, distance will come. A big problem with golfers is that they try and put everything they can into a swing without first mastering the technique. If you can learn to control the club and master a relaxed and accurate swing you will begin to hit a golf ball straight much more consistently. To control the club, you should let it do most of the work. Use your muscles and strength to support the club. Think of your club as a whip, use the leverage to get a clean connection on the ball and therefore a cleaner and more straight drive.
Another key area you need to focus on to hit a golf ball straight is your stance and balance. When using a driver, you should put your golf ball near to your left foot. To hit the ball straight you need to bring your backswing straight back and straight down through the ball. A rushed backswing is another common problem and this can be improved by working on a relaxed and balanced lift using your muscles to control the club.
If you want to consistently hit a golf ball straight, you will need to have the correct grip and grip pressure. If you are right handed, you should make sure that the left hand applies the pressure and that your right hand is more relaxed and passive.
If you follow the tips above and practice often, it won't be long before your friends get jealous because you know how to hit a golf ball straight. Just remember to have a balanced and controlled swing and focus on giving the ball a clean connection.

Excuses Part III

I couldn't golf when I was married, so any time is good now.
I don't have a logo ball from that course.
I don't have time for the driving range, but I have time to play 18.
I enjoy driving the golf carts.
I enjoy hitting things.
I enjoy looking for my ball in the rough.
I enjoy looking through the used golf balls in the pro shop.
I enjoy nature.
I enjoy the peace and quiet on the course.
I enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass.
I enjoy wearing golf caps.
I finally can make my ball go left to right.
I finally have a chance to play with someone worse than me.
I finished all my projects at work.
I finished cutting my grass.
I gambled away my mortgage money last week, so I need to win it back today.
I get depressed when I don't play.
I get more work done on the course than at the office.

Golf Excuses PaRT II

I always play well when it rains.
I am almost 50; I need to practice for the senior circuit.
I am just very optimistic I will play well if I golf today, so I'm going.
I am required to golf for work; I love my job.
I am sick of playing golf on my computer. I want to play for real.
I am useless at work unless I golf twice a week.
I bought a double titanium krypton driver with atomic shaft and sand grooved grips. I need to try it out.
I bought a golf cart at a rummage sale.
I bought a whole new golf wardrobe.
I bought those new golf contact lenses, guaranteed to cut 5 strokes off your score.
I called in sick at work.
I came home from work, and a note instructed me to leave and go golfing.
I can expense it for business purposes.
I can finally keep my driver in the fairway.
I can finally play under pressure, so I can start betting again.
I can get some lawn care tips from the ground maintenance crew.
I can pass gas, and no one is the wiser.
I can shoot par on the computer version now I want to try the real thing.
I collect used tees in all the tee boxes.
I could finally afford a pair of name brand clubs - I want to see if I can break 120!
